How do I turn off the Internet filter for patrons at the Randall Oaks Library? (Apr. 2015)

When a patron accesses a restricted website, they will see the following message:

In compliance with the law, staff must be able to unblock content in a timely manner when requested by a patron who is 17 years or older. Staff should not ask patrons the website that they are trying to access. Please direct any questions to your manager.

To unblock content:

1.Ensure that the patron is 17 years or older.
2.Staff should open a new Internet browser window or tab on the patron’s computer.
3.Type in the following url: 192.168.2.1 and hit enter.
4.Make sure pop-up blocker is turned off.
5.Log in with the username: Guest and password: Internet1. DO NOT CLOSE THE SONICWALL WINDOW THAT APPEARS.
6.Minimize the Sonicwall window.
7.User may now open a new browser tab or window. They may also use a different Internet browser.
Note: If a patron attempts to access a website that is blocked by our filter but shouldn’t be, please email the web address to Jason and it will be added to the exception list.
